As we start to see the fashions emerge for 2011 we also see the latest prints that are set to make it big this year. From the predictable animal prints to the more quirky geometric patterns, this year sees a big choice of different prints to suit all styles.

Here are some of the prints that are expected to hit the high street for 2011.

Animal

They seem to have been in and around the trends for as long as we can remember and it seems like animal prints are set to make a huge comeback for 2011 with animal prints shoes and bags storming the catwalks this season. Whether it’s leopard, zebra or a more obscure print, you’ll find a big choice of animal print high heels, flat shoes and bags in this season’s collections. But the important thing to remember with animal prints is to not overdo it otherwise you’ll up looking like you’re trying too hard. Simply add a few touches here and there with a leopard print bag or pumps with your jeans for casual everyday wear or a pair of zebra print killer heels with your little black dress for a night on the town.

Floral

We saw floral prints take the fashion world by storm last year and as it’s such a pretty trend it’s going to carry right through until 2011. Don’t be afraid to make the most of this look; as it’s such a delicate print you can wear much more of it than compared to others. Wear a simple pair of floral print pumps with denim or some killer heels with a floral print for a night out, while floral wedges will work well for summer. The great thing about floral prints is that they go with so many different colours from the pastel to the vibrant.

Polka dots

When the nautical trend made a name for itself last year we were all about the polka dot look and it looks like it’ll make another comeback for 2011. The rule with polka dots is to only wear one piece at a time and not to mix with any other print – keep it simple and clean. For example, a pair of polka dot wedges, flats or heels will work really well with denim for a casual look or linen for a more tailored style. And try to stay with the palette of red, blue and white if you’re going for the nautical look and stay clear of them if that’s not your style with more quirky colours. Keep the polka dots small too when it comes to footwear, bags and accessories otherwise you’ll lose the effect.

Geometric

It’s rather reminiscent of the 1970s but geometric patterns seem to be making an appearance this season. If you’re loving this look then make sure you do it right and don’t overdo it; a simple pair of geometric pumps or high heels should be teamed with a fairly simple look.
