How to Prevent Constipation

1. Drink plenty of water, at least 8 glasses of water a day. Drink 1 big glass in the morning before you eat anything.
2. Avoid too much starchy such as bread, cereals, rice, pasta and potatoes. Eat just enough to meet your daily nutritional requirement.
3.Eat foods with dietary fibers such as prunes, figs, cereals, fruits and nuts.
4. Eat an apple daily with its skin.
5. Drink a glass of warm water with lemon and honey in the morning.
6. Guava when eaten with seeds provides roughage to diet can give relief from constipation.
7. Eat at least 350 g of grapes daily. It tones up the stomach and intestines and relieves the most chronic constipation. Raisins soaked in water can be used too. Diabetic people should not use grape therapy.
8. Reduce intake of foods with sugar and white breads and foods prepared with white flour (maida).
9. Do more exercise to alleviate irregular bowel movement.
10. Engage in an active lifestyle.
